    赤毛Tigertさん, I think that in ex #5052, my dear is some expression of irony. The general meaning seems to be that the old man was victim of a trap and is now promising another one to his adversary.
    In ex#5038 I suppose the japanese text ends in "か?" and not in "かい?".

    tigert赤毛 I think the かい used in [#5038] is right. か and かい have the same function where か is a general purpose form and [かい] is used to speak to indivduals that are lower than you on the social ladder.  
    amenya6954: haha is my mother, so the English sentence should be changed.
